Track Edit Graphic User Interface

Post by Drdrdaddeo »

Just a suggestion to Support. In the Track Edit mode, the track window is staggered far to the right, leaving a large unused free dark area on the left, but no dark area at all on the right. When highlighting large areas for track editing, the dark area on the left can be readily used for high speed leftward scrolling of highlighted track areas (by just dragging the left highlighted edge into the dark area and holding it there). However, the complete absence of free dark area on the right, prevents similar rightward scrolling. To highlight large track areas to the right, repeated visible track leftward dragging and rightward highlighting is necessary (instead of being able to just high speed highlight identically in the rightward direction). If the track editing window was staggered just a little bit to the left (leaving the overall size the same, a dark free space would be created on the right edge of the track editing window that should permit unlimited high speed track highlightening in the rightward direction exactly as is already possible to the left. This would save a lot of time and accidental drag and drop areas when highlighting large track areas. Also horizontal track scrolling using the lower task bar was a highly useful fearure that was somehow lost in version updates. My vote is to bring that feature back.

Thanks (from an error-prone musician who is thus a heavy user of track editor)

I've added the scrolling-on-the-right issue to the list.

The 'unused' area on the left is there to align the audio editor with MIDI editors.

Note that you can also use SEL --> Select Right / Unselect Right to select an area.

I see what you mean about the left track alignment for MIDI and audio Track editing. But it does seem like there's still a bit of room to stagger everything just a bit leftward, keeping the audio and Midi track alignment, as well the same editing window size, while opening up just a bit of dark area on the right to use for rightward scrolling. Just a thought.

Thanks
