Tip 15: Converting audio to MIDI

Converting audio to MIDI

MultitrackStudio can convert monophonic audio to MIDI.

There are two ways to do this:

1. Select a part in an Audio track's editor. Then drag it to a MIDI track's editor and drop it.
2. Select a part in an Audio track's editor and click the Copy button. Then click a MIDI track editor's Paste button.

You can use this feature to change the sound of a piece of audio. Solo guitar is typically a good source. You can have the MIDI version play bass sounds, for example.

These limitations apply:
- It works with monophonic audio only (monophonic means "only one note at a time").
- Note detection isn't 100% reliable, so some MIDI editing may be required.
