calling the spring with an accordeon tune done with MTS

Hi,

this one I recorded yesterday.

http://soundcloud.com/fredvangestel/val ... -printemps

The accordion was recorded dry using an old hard disk recorder (still havn't got a good audio interface for that pc) and two mics for the left and right sides of the accordion.
Then mixed and mastered with MTS - I am still learning to get that loudness using compression / limiter and find a decent reverb that satisfies... any comments are welcome!

cheers - fred

Nice one Fred, makes waiting for spring a little nicer. The mix sounds good to me, no need to get any louder. If people need it louder they can turn up the volume
Loudness vs dynamics is a much discussed theme. I got a link from somewhere showing a quick way to get get loudness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0FpX200S1s
I found it quite informative, and you don't need to go overboard anyway.

If you can use a soundcard with a cardbus (PCMCIA) I have an emu 1616m that won't fit my new laptop. Location Germany.

Dittos! It's snowing here in West Virginia right now. :)

And thanks to your daughter!

Thanks for the youtube link!

In respect to the audio interface: though my laptop was built in 2007 - it doesn't have a PCMCIA cardbus anymore - it has an ExpressCard :(
I googled a bit, there are adapters out there but they're expensive and they don't seem to function with all PCMCIA cards.

Thanks anyway!

I have to admit, this one made me smile. Uh, oh. The tune refers to Spring thaw, and here I am, only just slithering into Winter, half a year later! Oh well. Something to look forward to...
