Matrix Sampler Question

When I import a sample from iTunes File Sharing onto a pad in the Matrix sampler, it appears to remove it from the list for other pads or for other presets, or other instantiations of the Matrix Sampler on other tracks.
Is there another method of importing that will keep it in the list so I can assign it to more than one pad, or more than one instantiation or preset? For example, if I enable iCloud, would I be able to access a list of samples without this "auto-removal"? If I use iCloud, is there something special I need to do to set up a folder on my Mac, then be able to access files with both my Mac and my iPad?
The Matrix Sampler was the perfect solution to something I was trying to do "the hard way" (soundfont, thumbjam).
