various locations, mac and windows, one piece

Post by reedr99 »

One reason I am seriously looking into MTStudio is to be able to put together a piece for 2 or more instruments, mainly quartets, when each part is recorded by a different member of the group, at a different location, and which might be from a mix of windows and mac versions. This would be especially nice during the covid-19 required distancing. I'd like to know if this can be done and how simple or difficult it would be to accomplish. Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Rod

Hi Rod, yes you can have various people sending you stems of their performance and then you add them to the track. Recently, I played some guitar tracks for a friend who lives in England and sent him the stems, now I have the finished CD. I live in New Zealand.
I've just finished another project with a guitarist who put a lead solo on one of my songs.
The people I sent my stems to, use Pro Tools, but I had no problems using MTS, it is all compatible.
Hope this helps.
