Hi.. Need help!

Post by Hockey »

Hello everyone.. My name is Haakon I'm 18 years old and I'm from No(R)way :) Gotta question, I have a Gibson Les Paul Historic Reissue Goldtop 57' and a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100 top /w Marshall 1960BV cab.

Here goes, Is there a way to "hook" if you want; the sound up with my PC. I meen is there a way for me to NOT use ducktape a swiss army knife and my PC mic.. Its like, I hate tapeing my PC mic on the 1960BV cab.

If anyone knowes how this can be done and OR have another hot tip for me regarding recording my songs without a stupid little PC mic, Let me know.. (Yea, I've looked at the back of my top and cab. There isent any output on the amp. Its only input in the front of the top and on the back to the cab.

Thanks to everyone.. Rock N Roll!

Hi Haakon!

Looks like you have nice equipment!

Here's the pro way to record your guitar on your PC...

Get one of these... http://www.zzounds.com/item--SHUSM57LC

and place it almost touching the grille cloth and off-center(experiment with position) on one of the speakers in the Marshall Cab, then...

Connect it to one of these... http://www.zzounds.com/item--STUVTB1

and run the output to the "line-in" on your soundcard - you'll have to experiment with levels a bit to get it right.

Let us hear some of your music when you get set up!

I agree with Saz.. If you want to keep the sound of the top and the cab, you will need to mike it with a 57, just as Saz says :)

You could be tempted to use a DI box, but that only really works with bass guitars and will definitely sound really bad! No, stick with the mic and preamp. It may seem a complicated and expensive method, but its the only way..
