Middle C4

Post by moxol »

I see that in Score Editor, middle C is labeled C5.
Why?

Middle C is C4.

You can choose middle C to be called C3, C4 or C5 in the Studio-->Preferences window.

I know, I just wanted to know the reason for it.
Is there a middle C5 also in other MIDI recording software?

Middle C is MIDI note 60, so C5 maps nicely (note 0 = C0 …. note 60 = C5). It also avoids the number becoming negative (like C-1).

I think middle C = C3 is most commonly used though.
