Interesting. I noticed this two weeks ago in a screenshot sent by a customer.

Song-->Export Song creates these numbered files. But it's supposed to deleted them when its done, and I don't see why it wouldn't. Does anything weird happen when you use Song-->Export Song (does MTS terminate unexpectedly, or do you have to 'force quit' MTS)?

No termination or having to force quit. The only exporting I have done is midi tracks and that works as usual. Today I will export the song and see then report back here.

Using song export MTS acts as normal, but the list keeps growing. :)
Thanks

Hmm, so it's not related to song exporting, apparently.
Can you discover when a new file appears? Maybe it happens when you save the song?

I did not see it add anything when I saved the file. Or when it auto saved.
There where and still are copies numbered 1-5 and the original which is un-numbered. That is the one I open and it has all the newest changes as for the others I did not have time to open and check each one, but out of the older copies I opened the oldest copy and it was an earlier version but in the song versions are greyed out.I'm assuming there are no versions save by me at least not intentionally .
If I close the song and get the notice do I want to save then there is a new copy "SongName"~hdr.
That's about all my detection work. Over to you Giel.

.~hdr is a backup copy of the .hdr file.

Thanks. As of yet I don't see these numbered song files here...

It would be interesting to see a picture that includes the files date/time. Perhaps the *.hdr file times coincide with other files, and that could help finding out when the *.hdr files are created.

This is the best I could do corresponding to the above list

2 HDR:12-9-2;17am
3 “ 1:46am
4 “ 1:53am
5 “ 1:56am
6: 12/9, 2:02 AM
7: 12/9, 2:05 AM
8: 12/9, 2:05 AM
9: 12/9, 2:14 AM
10: 12/9, 2:28 AM
11: 12/9, 2:31 AM
12: 12/9, 2:35 AM
Eat-Sleep-Chorus.~hdr: 12/9, 2:58 AM
Bottom of list:
Eat-Sleep-Chorus: 12/9, 2:59 AM

I use CMD-S a lot and quite often.as you can see. Usually during editing. entering notes etc.

So you think the files appear when you save the song? That would be possible if saving the song file fails.

I guess you don't see a 'Error writing to file songname.hdr' message when you save the song?

No there is no error message.
So I think there's some problem saving the files it's keeping each save instead of just the most recent file.
Each file is different then the one previous and all are about 11 KB.
I can't think of any other thing that is causing this.
I don't code. So I'm no help in that art form.
Thanks
