AUv3s with problems

I have a collection of AUv3s available from the iOS App Store on my Mac M1 and the majority of these work just fine but there
were a small number which had problems in both Rosetta and native M1 mode. As it is Black Friday weekend and these are discounted at
the moment I thought it would be a good time to report the issues but they are not blocking me.

The first two are both VirSyn apps but there is another app of theirs AddStation which does work fine. These work fine in Logic X:

AudioLayer - Black screen

Cube Synth Pro - Black screen, responds to MIDI but sound is distorted. ... 1560948972

These don't work in Logic so I would not expect them to load into MTS. I have included them for completeness:

Spectrum Synthesizer bundle (free) - this installs a number of AUv3s. The Modal one works fine but the Resonator and Spectrum AUs give a blank screen. ... 1467384251

Thanks. I'll put it somewhere halfway on the list ;-)

These are the ones which seem to work both ways in a project between iOS and desktop MTS. That is, plugins load automatically and plugin state is preserved in both directions:

Mela/Mela 2
Fractal Bits
Model 15
Roli Noise (sort of works)
Lo-Fi Piano
Animoog Z
(Probably also Koala)

Here are some others which are available on both iOS and desktop but you would need to manually load the plugin on the desktop as the presets etc do not transfer correctly:

Tal u no lx
TB Flowtones
Vk-1/Viking (different apps but same instrument)
Synthmaster 1/2

Iā€™m not aware of any other DAW that has this level of bi-directional compatibility between iOS and desktop.

AUv3 support was added to the Mac version 2 years ago. It was low hanging fruit, as it worked for iPad already.
It was rather useless back then: there were probably just two plugins

There are not many (any?) hosts with this level of AUv3 support outside of Apple software as far as I can tell. I did notice that Plogue Bidule have just added very basic AUv3 support and there are some early plans for AUM to arrive on the Mac at some point so developer interest in this area is building.

There is a good level of synergy between iOS and desktop and the M1 is a big driver. It got me using desktop for music and also got me buying MTS on desktop. You could always go from GarageBand iOS to GB or Logic on desktop but now you can do it and not even need to change your plugin settings. MTS offers even more than Apple themselves by allowing you to then take your project back to iOS. I can be editing a project on my desktop and literally less than 10 seconds later have it open on my iPad, amazing stuff!
