Backup restore work

Post by uncle808us »

Mac Desktop question sadly just lost work.
I did not realise that when you clear the properties window you lose all back ups I am in the habit of clearing all from properties quite often,
1.When is the best time to clean up the properties window?
2.Should you save all files in case of a crash, or just the back ups?
3.In the event of a crash what happens to all the back ups in the properties window?
Will they still be there upon restarting your computer?
thanks I just lost a lot of work due to my ignorance in this area.
Please enlighten me to the best way to insure his doesen't happen.
Thank you for your time.

I'd say: when the project is finished.

I guess you're referring to the "Autosave (safety backup)' versions. These versions are saved automatically every 15 minutes. If the program crashes when you haven't saved for hours you can restore this version, so you lose only the last few minutes of work.

Versions don't include audio, so you need all files in the song folder.

Nothing. They're files which are on the disk.

If you'd want to make a backup copy on an external disk you can either use Song-->Export-->Export Song, or you can copy the song folder manually. Or you can copy the "MultitrackStudio Songs" folder, so all your songs are copied in one go.
