what player is best?

Post by axman »

Real one versus MusicMatch versus Windows media player?

Has anyone found a preference over the best player to use for mp3 or wave files in the 3 mentioned above, and why?

Music Match will convert wave to mp3, but someone, probably saz, on this list mention another "free" converter (wave to mp3), but I can't seem to find it in the threads?

Can you link it one more time. Thanks

With these 3, I think it's just a matter of the least of 3 evils. I don't like all the extra junk that Real Player installs on a system and I haven't used MusicMatch for years. Not crazy about the extra junk with WMP either, but it's what I currently use - I just turn off everything privacy-wise in the options menu.

I had a great bare-bones player about 2 years ago, but lost it after a re-format and can't remember the name. If I can dig it up, I'll let you know.

As for the converter... You can download the free dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) here... http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm As it is, it will convert between wav and mp3 - you can download codecs for converting wma and ape formats and more here... http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm

cool. Thanks for the quick reply Saz.

Music Match drives me crazy with trying to automatically fire-up my aol IPS seeking updates.....

In a google search there are a congillion players (many shareware)....and I like your comments about the extra junk that comes with the big 3.

I'll do some searching as well. (I also have another factor to consider in the player evaluations, with loading my mp3 player and what works best in trying to convert my jazz CDs to mp3).

http://www.webattack.com/freeware/ I use WMP, since it seems to do what i need, but it does irritate sometimes, but so do all the others.[/url]
