Limit of 4 midi instruments

Post by Dad54 »

Is there a way to leave the instrument midi track data within a song but without having it associated to any instrument to avoid taking up one of the 4 virtual instrument slots
A 'no instrument' option would be great alongside the MTS instruments, IAA instruments etc.
More than 4 slots would be even better.
I understand the 'copy to audio track' and the ' export midi to audio share ' options but having the data in the project all the time would be great for working with multiple midi track compositions

Thanks

You can record the MIDI track with the Virtual MIDI App to an audio track using Audiobus. Then longtap the MIDI track instrument slot and pick the SoundFont Player for example. Disengage the track's Play button. Now you're using the audio track instead of the MIDI track.

When you need to redo the MIDI track you can load the Virtual MIDI App again.
