Take a look at the url to see how easy note entry could be using duration selection and one finger touch.

Please get rid of the way it works in Multi Track iOS.
This is in notion for iOS.
I would use notion but I like everything about Multi track studio except the iOS entry (I compose mainly in the score editor.)
I’m an old school composer.
Thanks for listening.

If you are composing on an iPad, you're not that old school. I feel old school 'cuz I still use paper & pencil pretty often, and a laptop DAW (DP & MTS).

First of all, if you haven't already, you owe it to yourself to spend a good chunk of time getting to know the piano roll editor (in ANY DAW).

There are a number of advantages to piano roll editing, the workflow is especially elegant and efficient. You can make musical choices with timing, and note durations that notation can't show. You can easily see and select notes, fine-tune aspects and trouble-shoot things more cleanly. I think the one drawback is that chord qualities are not immediately obvious without some years of experience "seeing" the keys.

Can you do your composing in Notion, then export MIDI to MTS for the rest of the process?

Well I say old school because I am 71 now and have been writing scores before DAW's we had analog reel to reel studios in the day. Picture George Martin and the early days of the Beatles.
Yes I can notate in Notion and export via midi but why not just have a better note entry in MultiTrack.
I realize the piano roll is useful for many things and I switch to it for them. But like I say. "why not just have a better note entry in MultiTrack."
All this is my opinion and not meant to offend anyone.

I don't love the way the notes are entered in MTS. The press and hold for every note is pretty tedious. And I STILL have issues with my finger completely blocking the note as I drag up for pitch. However, I do fully understand that there are some convincing reasons why it is not easily solved.

Honestly, I really hate working on touch screens. I can work quickly, efficiently, and effectively with a mouse on a desktop/laptop.

I've given MTS high marks for doing the best job of not dumbing down the options for creative work. But I will always look for ways to avoid using the touch screen when I can. Touch screens feel like a clunky solution to a non-existent problem.

I can't remember where I saw this quote:

"If THIS is the solution, I want my problem back."

I've never tried connecting a mouse to the iPad. I wonder what would happen.
