Midi track tempo question

Post by Drdrdaddeo »

I have an unusual song which was originally written, sequenced live and nicely synced years ago in a slow 4/4 tempo (around 87 bpm) driven by many oddly time triplets and 16th notes and syncopated percussion hits. To move the entire song into MTS, I played and recorded it TRACK-by-track (5 total) into MTS, and was then able to easily synced all five tracks to each other to playback correctly. However, neither the notes nor the percussion hits would then line up with the MTS timing marks unless the time signature was set to either 11/4, or 4/4-4/4-3/4 ….repeating, at a tempo of 120 bpm. I can indeed produce the song at any tempo using either 11/4 or 4/4-4/4-3/4… timing, but I had hoped to reproduce it in slow 4/4 as in the original recording, (for ease of editing). However when I try to change the MTS click track to 4/4 at 87 BPM as in the original, the other 5 music tracks all slow down to a creep, and I lose sync with the MTS timing marks. I can’t seem to change the tempo (or time signature) of either the click track, any one of the MIDI tracks, or any highlighted region without the changes being applied throughout the same entire song.

Is there any way to set different tempo’s and/or time signatures within different tracks of the same MIDI song??

Thanks,

In the desktop version you can 'detach' the tempo editor, and then you can change the tempo without moving the notes.

This feature isn't in the iPad version though. I'll look into adding it.
