Can MTS access/import soundfonts from something like Sonic Implants?
Because, MTS can convert SF2 (and GIG) samples for use in MTS, I will be using those in my ongoing work....way cool. I might even go shopping and buy some really nice sounding ones, but freebies will do for now.
Some free soundfonts:

You'll need the sfArkXTc application to decompress the files:

When converting soundfonts in MTS, the default target directory for the files is the "Patches" directory within the MTS directory in the C:/Programs folder.
For improved performance, would it not be better to have these files on a drive other than the system drive?
Not if you are using that drive to stream temp audio files from the program.
I've got a feeling the samples load into ram anyway when you need them. My performance improved greatly when I upped my ram ante from 1gig to 2gig anyway.

I have been using Sound fonts with MTS for some time now, and i have found that the sampler does a far better job than the Sound Font players, i have both SFZ free and Jeskola , and they are nice but not close to the way the sampler works with the SFs. i also bought the bluejay drums and the strat guitars and fender bass fonts from sonic implants and like them very much between them and the titanic free GM set i have most of what i want now.
Initially, I thought I had to get a SB Live card or Audigy to get efficient soundfont playback. From what I have now come to understand, my 3.4 GHz P4 with 2GB RAM and MTS should be sufficient, so I'm now looking at the Emu 1212M....
"Titanic" soundfonts? What's that? Where can I get them to check them out?
I'm forever in search of a good acoustic/standup bass and some decent sounding drum cymbals...other than that, I think I have a good enough selection of piano/keyboards and reed instruments....

"Titanic" is just the name the creator gave to a free GM soundfont bank.
Probably due to its size, 120mb when zipped, even larger when unpacked.
you can download it here: http://www.titanicsf.com/download/download.html
If you don't know what "sfark" means, you can download that there, too, you will need it to unpack this and many other free downloadble soundfonts. It is kind of like zip files but is a compressor made especially for soundfonts and a few other lesser known audio files.
enjoy, and learn to google when you see a term you don't know. If you would have googled "titanic soundfont" you'd already know for the first return is the titanic soundfont website.
