Talk to me about

Post by Robomusic »

the difference and advantages of 32 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit float, i am a tad confused. I have heard somefolks say 32 bit float is a bad thing.

I have been using it to record audio, would i be better to use 24 bit or 32 bit and leave it at that?

I keep my stuff on 32-bit float for reasons of headroom in the amplitude department.

It does not clip when mixing.

"learjeff" over at audiominds is our resident expert on the math behind that, you could search the forum for his reports on the math and the reasons why, or just start a post there and ask him again.

What Jeff had to say made sense is all I recall about it now.

I have found it to record far better than what i was doing before, so I guess i will just keep on, i had heard something negative, but i guess that is true of anything someone is going to knock it. Thanks Macster.

That's pretty much the way I look at it, Robomusic,

"If it works, don't fix it..." (grin)
