I guess this is just a PSA for anyone considering installing the February 2019 MIDI Guitar 2 app update.
This update includes a lot of changes to the UI etc. Unfortunately these changes somehow prevent it from working properly in MTS.
The app appears in and can be selected from the Studio > Devices menu, but the selection does not get retained after closing the menu. Going back into the menu will show the default MIDI input selection of None, and there’s no MIDI input coming from the app.
I’ve also tested the update in AUM, where it works fine.

Re: MIDI Guitar 2 App update kills MTS usage
Can you please do this again, and then send a report using the Studio menu's Contact option? Maybe something was logged.qaratechop wrote:The app appears in and can be selected from the Studio > Devices menu, but the selection does not get retained after closing the menu. Is MIDI Guitar still running after trying to select it in MTS, or did it crash? You can see if it's still running by double-tapping the iPad home button.

Thanks for the report. Looks like iOS fails to provide some basic info for the MIDI Guitar 2 'midi device'. Strange. Will add it to the list for investigation.
You could try killing both MTS and MIDI Guitar 2, or even reboot the iPad.

Re: MIDI Guitar 2 App update kills MTS usage
For now this workaround may be useful:
- In MTS, add a MIDI track and load an IAA instrument in the instrument slot. I used Nanologue, but any instrument that's silent if you don't touch it will do.
- Pick 'MTS IAA Recording' as MIDI output in MIDI Guitar's MIDI Output pane
- In MTS, arm the MIDI track for recording and start transport. The track now records MIDI Guitar.

The 3.3 version includes some trickery to make it work again.
