Play being disabled for vMIDI tracks [solved]

I just wrote a post to ask why I couldn't add a fifth vMIDI destination and *then* read the manual - "Up to four instrument apps can be used simultaneously". Note to self - read the manual first before assuming there is a problem and spending ages testing something! I'll leave this here in case someone searches for it in the future.
