audio track setting

When I add a new audiotrack MTS’ standard setting is to suggest a mono channel. Is it possible to set the standard/default suggestion to stereo?
That's currently not possible.
And I'm not sure it would be a good idea to add this. 'Mono' is usually the right format for multitrack recording purposes (vocals, bass, electric guitars, the individual drum mics...). If you use a stereo track with a mono mic the right channel will be silent. This leads to support calls. Allowing the user to make tracks default to stereo will confuse more people I'm afraid.
