Tip of the week 5: Vocal removal

Vocal removal

If you're a singer you might want to remove vocals from an album track for practising purposes. While there are third party plugins to do this you can also do it with MultitrackStudio's native effects:

- Load the album track in a Track.
- Load a Stereo Effect in the Track and open it.
- Turn both Pan knobs to center position (50%).
- Load a Phase Inverter effect in one of the effect slots.

That's it. Now you can play back the track and hear the results.

Note that this only works with stereo tracks. The general problem with vocal removers is that they remove everything that's in the center of the stereo image. You can add an EQ effect before or after the Phase Inverter and cut the bass a bit to avoid losing all the bass (try the Lo Cut section at 100 Hz, 6 dB/Oct).

I've updated the text. The Phase Inverter used to be called Inverter until last year or so. Forgot about that
