Hi!
First of all, I'd like to congratulate the devs - great software!
Second of all, I'd like to criticize the support - I know I'm using a free version of the software for evaluation but I sent 2 emails about the same question and got no reply.
That said, I'm trying to help a friend record something on his laptop.
Using his Roland digital piano, he records the midi track and vocals with a mic. As you know, the soundfont of the operating system (W10) is quite generic and the piano track sounds bad, once you output the mixed audio file.
Is there a way to make it better with another soundfont, inside MultritrackStudio?
Thanks in advance!
(Noob alert!) How to output a song with a better soundfont?
Re: (Noob alert!) How to output a song with a better sundfont?
Sorry, I haven't seen any emails about this - not even in the spam folder.
You could try the Sampler. It was improved recently, the "what's new" page even mentions a piano you could try: https://www.multitrackstudio.com/version95.php
That said, why not use the sounds of his digital piano? See https://www.multitrackstudio.com/midimixdown.php

Hey Giel,
Unfortunately, the laptop doesn't have enough inputs for piano (only midi) + vocals so I'll have to "cheat" by recording the piano first as you've suggested, then vocals.
I'll surely check the differences with the new Sampler.
Thanks for the help!

Re: (Noob alert!) How to output a song with a better soundfont?
Why not look for some virtual instruments (VSTi) of sounds / instruments you want that can be played via MIDI, so if you want a good sounding piano for example, look for a piano VSTi or even soundfont SF2 files. Same goes for bass and synth. Some are better than others... Lots of fairly decent free sounds / instruments out there.
That said, I don't know if the Lite version allows users to install VSTi's and SF2 sounds, etc., I presume it will so users can test things.
You mentioned piano:

K-N-M,
I tried to walk the VSTi road but the n00b inside got sidetracked. It wasn't working the way I intended.
I've even tried with VirtualMIDISynth but I crashed into a wall.
Perhaps I need a tutorial (or ten ).
Thanks for replying
